Medical Terminology Online to accompany The Language of Medicine, 8th edition offers a myriad of learning opportunities for online education, while accommodating diverse learning styles and circumstances. This revision incorporates new and updated content from the revised text and is instructionally designed to provide both instructor and student with the tools for teaching and learning. The online course continues to include a wide range of auditory and visual elements and various activities that amplify text content, synthesize concepts presented in the text, provide multiple activities for reinforcement of learning, and demonstrate the practical application of medical language. The content and functionality of this online course help the student develop the specialized vocabulary needed in the clinical setting and the word analysis skills needed to define unfamiliar terms when they are encountered. Many new features are included in this revision to offer even more teaching and learning opportunities.

The original art program includes more than 500 disease and disorder illustrations and 450 anatomical illustrations and graphics. Animations and slide shows with audio narration demonstrate anatomic and physiologic principles and processes. Each module has threaded case studies that continue throughout and further engage students with a "Listen In" dialogue between the case patient and the health care provider(s). This gives the student additional opportunities to hear medical terms pronounced and gives a fun spin to learning these terms. The dialogue is also included in a pop-up for hearing-impaired learners. A new tutoring feature called "Catch That?" is included to help the student review content learned in a previous screen. Medical report activities and additional case studies encourage students to apply what they have learned.

New options are presented for different types of learners. Separate links are provided for Activities Only and for Media Only (animation, slide shows, video), each broken into module, sections, and lessons. These links can be utilized to go directly to all of the activities and/or all of the media in a particular module.
