Career Advancement Program for Phlebotomy Technician, 1st Edition

A mix of online and in-person instruction, this course gives students the opportunity to learn and practice key job skills that would be required of a practicing phlebotomist, as well as background in the concepts underlying this skillset, such as an understanding of infection control, the circulatory system, quality assurance, control measure, and legal concerns relevant to the phlebotomy field. Students will learn how to properly collect blood from a range of patient populations and medical events, transport specimens from the lab, perform basic analysis of blood specimens, and keep patients safe. Those enrolled in the course will be prepared to sit for the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Phlebotomy Technician Certification exam, and begin a career in phlebotomy or in an associated health care field in which specimen collection skills or a practical knowledge of the circulatory system are valued.
