“Assisting a student in meeting a lifetime goal of passing NCLEX is so rewarding! I love celebrating successes with the students. Whether it’s an increased score or an increase in confidence, it is such a joy to see the students improve throughout the course of Compass.”

Laurie Harris is a  HESI Compass coach. She has over 12 years of nursing experience and 10 years experience in nursing education with roles including academic coach, student success program faculty member, and assistant clinical professor. She graduated with her BSN from Auburn University in 2008 and an MSN from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2012. She began her career as a staff nurse in Labor and Delivery and developed her passion for teaching while working at the bedside.

Her experience in nursing education began with instructing students in the clinical setting. After teaching full-time in academia for 3 years, Mrs. Harris found her passion for student success. She then helped develop a “Student Success” program for baccalaureate students and served as an Academic Coach for over 3 years. Through this role, she worked with students on test-taking skills and the utilization of HESI data to improve exam scores. Mrs. Harris is thrilled to be a part of the HESI Compass team and is excited to continue assisting students in achieving their ultimate goal of passing the NCLEX exam.
