Karren is an educator, speaker, writer, nurse extraordinaire, and leadership expert. Karren’s legacy is to impact leadership at all levels of healthcare. Having held multiple leadership positions at various hospitals and nursing agencies, Karren is recognized as a dynamic leader in healthcare. She has first-hand experience in various healthcare roles, from nurse to PhD and she has served as Project Director on 9 major state and federal grants. She has authored numerous articles and co-edited six advanced nursing textbooks. In addition to being an educator, author, leader, and researcher, Karren is also known for being a powerful, engaging speaker.
Karren is a Magnet Appraiser and a certified partner with Wiley leadership assessments. She works with executive teams, front-line nurses, and organizations across the nation – any and all levels of the organization – to impact the future of healthcare with programs and tools that have proven track records.

She is an influential educator, author, keynote speaker, coach, and consultant with more than 45 years of experience. She has held multiple leadership positions from head nurse to administrator. She is an engaging national speaker whose dynamic storytelling style focuses primarily on leadership and nursing workforce issues. Her message connects with the audience because of her knack for encouraging and motivating others to grow and develop into the best version of themselves. She is a Magnet appraiser and a professor at Texas Tech where she teaches part-time in the DNP program.
