If there is anything that the nursing community can agree on when it comes to\u00a0reflecting\u00a0on nursing school, it\u2019s that Med Surg\u00a0can really make your head spin! I remember going into my program and being terrified at the thought of Med Surg and just hoping I could\u00a0make it through.\u00a0Well, friend, I did it.\u00a0And\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0here to tell you that you can too \u2013 and you will!\u00a0 Here are a few study tips that helped me become a \u201cMed Surg Survivor\u201d:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Read that book!<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>The book is where your professors are going to get their information from to create those exam questions, so might as well put it to use.
    <\/li>
  2. Take your own notes!<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>This may sound daunting to some, but I absolutely love having my own notes to quickly\u00a0refer\u00a0to in case I need to.\u00a0 These also came in handy when it came time to working on my study guides for my final exams.
    <\/li>
  3. PRACTICE QUESTIONS, PRACTICE QUESTIONS, PRACTICE QUESTIONS!<\/strong><\/em> Anyone who knows\u00a0me,\u00a0knows that I fully believe in doing all the practice questions\/EAQs<\/a> through Elsevier.\u00a0 The more, the merrier is my motto.\u00a0Even if you do 10-20 questions a day\u2026 those will add up quickly and\u00a0you\u2019ll\u00a0feel more prepared for your exams.\u00a0
    <\/li>
  4. Look up YouTube videos!<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>I understand that reading the book isn\u2019t everyone\u2019s cup of tea, so that\u2019s where I would recommend looking up YouTube videos regarding different topics that may not be clicking as well as you are reading the material. I still to this day can hear the voices of different YouTube content\u00a0and\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0definitely saved\u00a0me on exam questions.
    <\/li>
  5. Go the extra mile!<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0Complete those study guides from your professors, attend exam reviews,\u00a0teach the content to others, reach out to your professors \u2013 do it all.\u00a0The more you are exposing yourself to the material in different ways, the more it will reflect not only in your grades, but your career as a nurse.\u00a0I made sure to always complete any study guides that were provided to\u00a0us,\u00a0and\u00a0I\u2019d\u00a0read through the completed study guide 2-3 times.\u00a0 When attending exam reviews, I made sure to take notes throughout the review session so I could\u00a0refer back\u00a0to them when I continued to study and made sure to come ready with any questions that I had for my professors.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
