Leah Livingston
Senior Clinical Data Scientist and Responsible AI Expert at Elsevier
Leah received her BSc in Nursing and studied Biostatistics at the City University of New York; with over a decade of experience as a registered nurse in the fields of oncology and critical care. In her clinical roles, she assisted in leading the rollout of updated electronic health records systems at multiple academic hospitals in New York City. This piqued Leah’s interest in the intersection between healthcare and technology.
Leah then completed an advanced certification program in data science and machine learning from the Flatiron School in New York City. She also completed her master’s degree in Epidemiology with applied statistics at the University of London. Since becoming a Senior Clinical Data Scientist and Responsible AI Expert at Elsevier, she has worked with several health education and health care organizations on projects specializing in employing natural language processing and generative artificial intelligence (AI) to various healthcare applications. She leverages her years of clinical experience coupled with her data science and epidemiology education to improve the healthcare experience and clinical outcomes for clients and providers. She applies data mining, statistical analysis, predictive modeling, machine learning, and generative AI techniques to extract insights and generate solutions from various sources of health and education data.
Leah is passionate about using data to the fullest extent to enhance health education content and delivery, as well as to promote responsible and ethical use of AI in healthcare. She collaborates with cross-functional teams of clinicians, researchers, educators, and developers to create and implement innovative products and services that address the needs and challenges of the healthcare industry.
