Francisco works as a Psychometrician for HESI® at Elsevier. With an extensive background in measuring student performance in virtual clinical simulations and developing testing solutions for licensure and certification exams in nursing education, Francisco has accumulated over a decade’s worth of experience in the field of quantitative methodology and psychometrics.
In his current role, Francisco is responsible for conducting psychometric analyses to ensure adherence to best practices in item analysis, reliability, and validity across various HESI assessments that measure students’ abilities to apply concepts related to specific clinical nursing content areas. Before joining the HESI team, Francisco worked as a researcher for Shadow Health® virtual patient simulations. His research on the perceived effectiveness and self-reported learning outcomes associated with the use of virtual patient simulations in undergraduate and graduate nursing education has been presented at national and international nursing research conferences.
Francisco earned his Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in educational research, measurement, and evaluation from the University of Florida.
