Elsevier Secure Browser Faculty Guide: Student Testing on iPads

This faculty readiness guide outlines the key steps and information faculty need to know about their test-takers accessing the Elsevier Secure Browser with iPads.

Install the Secure Browser App for iPad

Let us know if you will be testing on the new Elsevier Secure Browser iPad app so that we may enable a feature flag on the backend. Otherwise, your school will be enabled to test with the new app on September 5th.
Note: Review the device requirements ahead of test day.

  1. Use SAFARI to access HESI NG and download and run the HESI Compatibility Check in advance of your exam with this link to complete the initial secure browser download and ensure system compatibility. The link provided in this guide is the verified access point and must be used to successfully run the compatibility check and mock exam in the secure browser.Note: If you get an error using this link, clear the cache on your device or paste into an incognito browser. 

  • 2. Open the Compatibility Check and it will prompt the user to download the Elsevier Secure Browser app from the App Store.

     

     

     

     

     

    3. Once the app is downloaded, click Open and the landing page will be displayed.

    4. The landing page can be closed in order to re-access the instructions page in HESI NG. 

     

     

     

     

     

    5. From there, refresh the page. Then, hit “Open,” which will open the Compatibility Check.

6. On exam day, students will log into HESI NG and launch their exam as usual. If the app is already downloaded, it will open automatically. If it is not downloaded, the student will be prompted to do so and will follow the same process outlined above.

Note: If the app is opened directly from the iPad home, it will open to the landing page. The app must be accessed via the HESI NG Compatibility Check or exam launch in to display content.
