Dr. Christine Gouveia is Vice President of Applied Learning Sciences at Elsevier, where she leads applied research to support effective learning solutions and educational outcomes for nursing and health professions students. Her team provides insights to guide the next generation learning assistance students need to be NCLEX ready, such as study and test-taking strategies, stress and time management, and self-efficacy support. She is also a visiting faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania.
For more than 15 years, Dr. Gouveia has worked to improve educational outcomes for students through her leadership roles in a variety of settings in K-20 education. Throughout her career, she has focused on applying academic research and evidence-based learning strategies to educational products, programs, and services. Her research focuses on the social, emotional, and cognitive bases of effective teaching and learning in online environments.
Dr. Gouveia holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Educational Psychology & Cognitive Science from Cornell University and an M.S. in Developmental Psychology from Columbia University.
