Francisco works as a Psychometrician for Shadow Health® at Elsevier. With education and experience in psychometrics, student assessment, advanced quantitative methodology, and user experience research, his professional interests largely focus on developing data collection instruments and measuring student performance in virtual patient simulations.
Over the past seven years, Francisco has been leading the development, psychometric analysis, and refinement of student assessment instruments embedded in Shadow Health’s Digital Clinical Experiences™ that target a variety of attitudes, knowledge, and skills relevant to the learning objectives of each scenario, ranging from student satisfaction to clinical reasoning. His research on the perceived effectiveness and self-reported learning outcomes associated with the use of virtual patient simulations in undergraduate and graduate nursing education has been presented at national and international nursing research conferences.
Francisco earned his Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in educational research methods and assessment from the University of Florida. He is also a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.
